Very disappointed (obviously) with the useless Skip Channel feature while extra buttons are wasting space. Wing nuts on the rack mount would be desirable (user fixable). But alas, it's buried in a menu.Īll other features have been good to excellent, I love that there is no fan and the radio stays cool. "Reverse" feature is likewise hard to get to. Instead, having a channel get skipped from your scan is almost as difficult as programming the channel in the first place. That was my naive understanding of the "Skip Channel" function before I purchased the radio. It seems to me that if I'm scanning 30 or so local repeaters and the scanner pauses on one that is acting up, has noise on the frequency, hams are doing testing, or maybe it's just a boring conversation about someone's underwear, I should be able to press one of the 26 buttons on my mic and be done with that channel for a while. I'll admit I'm new to the hobby, but when I settled on the ICOM IC-2300H with its stellar reviews, everything needed for basic operation and a microphone with 26 buttons (two 'programmable!') on it, I was really looking forward to the Skip Channel function. Skip Channel feature leaves me nonplussed
